First of all, a big thank-you for keeping back to my website! I am thankful for all of you. As I write this, I’ve got two Satsuma meringue pies cooling in the kitchen, a basted turkey browning in the oven, and Mexican cornbread just out. It’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States, which is a day we celebrate and give thanks to God for a good year.
The first Thanksgiving was in 1621 in Massachusetts. The year prior, the Pilgrims had almost starved due to their lack of knowledge in how to raise crops in the New World. But some native people, especially Squanto, came to their aid and taught them how to plant, grow, and harvest crops. So at the end of that successful year, the Pilgrims invited their native friends to come and enjoy the bounty of the harvest.
I wonder this: if those native people had known what would eventually happen to them, would they have been so helpful and accommodating?
Until next time,
